• Provide technical leadership for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). • Advise on project development initiatives globally. • Assess various BESS technologies for technical performance and costs. • Oversee value engineering of energy storage facilities. • Share best practices for the design and delivery of BESS facilities. • Stay current in government and market regulations impacting energy devices. • Track emerging technology associated with BESS over five years.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in engineering or related field, P.Eng License preferred. • Senior-level engineering experience, ideally in a management role leading and developing a team. • Experience with utility interconnection regulations, codes and standards, and permitting requirements for Megawatt-scale distributed generation power systems, including energy storage systems. • Experience with lithium-ion battery bank designs from top-tier manufacturers, including installation, commissioning, operation, and relevant safety requirements. • Design of AC and DC power circuits, including sizing, raceways, grounding, protection, and EMI mitigation. • Specification of utility interconnection equipment for DG, including inverters and transformers. • Specification of control devices, including PLCs, RTACs, communications network equipment. • Experience with revenue meters, protective relays, circuit breakers, and SCADA systems. • Experience with design and operation of Microgrids (islanded power systems with grid-tied capability). • Familiar with CAD drafting standards and development of drawing plan sets and submittal packages for commercial, utility, and Government clients.
