• Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Junior Accountant supports full cycle accounting. • Assisting in maintenance of the general ledger, including monthly account reconciliations, month-end closing procedures. • Reviewing bank statements to ensure all entries are recorded accurately. • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations, triage, and resolution of outstanding reconciling items. • Preparing GST/HST, PST, value added tax, and various United States sales and use tax returns. • Performing detailed review over credit card reconciliations. • Reviewing prepaid expense and fixed asset sub-ledgers for accounting and tax purposes. • Preparing entries for accounting of debt, financial and operating lease transactions. • Identifying and responding to queries regarding key variances in income statement and balance sheet. • Preparing working papers required for annual financial statement and statutory audits. • Participating in ad hoc accounting, tax, and finance projects as required. • Completing administrative tasks and other duties as needed.
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in an accounting department. • Bachelor's degree, or diploma in business or accounting, considered an asset. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Intermediate to advanced level Excel proficiency. • Ability to quickly learn and excel with new financial systems, processes, and technology. • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritise, and time-manage. • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail. • Excellent business etiquette and ability to write clear, concise, and formal business communications. • Ability to exercise tact and discretion and to be entrusted with confidential information. • Ability to work independently as well as within a team with minimal supervision. • Familiarity with the Oracle NetSuite ERP system and cloud-based accounting applications is an asset.
