• Learn from and contribute to a thriving team of senior Sustainability + Building Performance team members to grow your abilities in the building performance space, including energy performance, emissions reductions, reducing embodied carbon, improving climate resilience and adaptation, project management, and client relations • Develop performance simulations to guide the design of high-performance buildings, deep energy retrofits, and existing building energy audits. This will include not only traditional energy modelling but also daylight and glare analyses, thermal comfort evaluations and passive design studies • Maintain the highest standards of technical excellence in the delivery of simulation services • Develop internal scripts, tools, and workflows to enhance the quality and efficiency of delivering building simulations • Produce enticing graphical representations of complex simulation data to enhance client facing deliverables • Prepare energy modelling reports to fulfil the requirements of building code, incentive programs and third-party certifications such as LEED and the Zero Carbon Building Standard • Research trends and technologies associated with the design and operation of high-performance buildings to keep us at the cutting edge of project delivery • Work with clients to confirm their performance needs and expectations throughout the design process • Draft technical papers and prepare presentations to aid in the growth of a stronger and broader client base.
• 8+ years of experience delivering building performance analysis in support of high-performance building design • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB), ASHRAE 90.1, LEED, Toronto Green Standard, Vancouver Building By-Laws, BC Energy Step Code, and Zero Carbon Building Standard • Understanding of the principles of building science and HVAC systems and best practice approaches to their simulation • Interest in data management and representation via Excel • A bachelor’s or master’s degree relevant to building performance (ie. engineering, architecture, building technology, building science, etc.), or similar training. • Considered assets: P. Eng., E.I.T., BEMP, CEM, CPHC/D, LEED GA/AP • Experience with energy auditing and retrofit analysis for existing buildings will be considered an asset • Knowledge and interest in embodied carbon, climate resiliency, and building science considered an asset
