Description
• Preparation of corporate tax filings in Canada. • Preparation of required supporting documentation for the Company’s tax filing positions. • Preparation of the quarterly tax provision and related note disclosure on a consolidated basis and answer questions from external financial statement auditors as required. • Preparation of regular indirect tax filings. • Assistance with foreign tax compliance and related projects. • Assistance with the tax aspects of business system implementations. • Support for tax audit defense activities–direct and indirect tax, federal, provincial, international. • Investigate and interpret new accounting transactions to determine Canadian income tax implications. • Review, interpret and model new tax legislation globally and assess impact to Telesat. • Assistance with preparation of contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation. • Assistance with developing internal control processes within the tax function. • Act as a resource to internal departments to answer tax related questions. • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Canadian tax. • University Degree in Finance, Economics or Business with an Accounting designation. • Completed or enrolled in CPA In-depth Tax Course. • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills. • The incumbent is required to plan, coordinate and set priorities to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks.
