• Provide individuals with direction or advice for daily living activities • Provide counselling and support for clients and their families • Oversee and supervise community/recreational outings • Provide clerical/reception and administrative support • Foster a safe and healthy work environment
• Post-Secondary diploma/degree in the Social Services field • Valid First Aid and CPI certifications • At least one (1) year of recent work experience in services/programs for males aged 12 -17 who are in detention • Working knowledge of the Social and Criminal Justice systems and community resources • Knowledge of relevant counselling practices and effective counselling skills • Adept at using computer systems, e.g., MS Word Suite • Proven group facilitation skills • Skills in: counselling, teaching, group and individual facilitation, communication, conflict resolution, mathematics and administrative tasks • Assessment skills for service delivery and programming issues • Program planning skills to implement, evaluate, and modify programs • Effective crisis intervention skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English • Valid Driver’s License or G1 and committed to achieving G-2 or G-full within 2 years • Ability to communicate in French, verbally and in written form
