•Collaborates with the Director of Finance to provide leadership in financial reporting •Collaborates with all related entities to ensure all related party transactions are recorded and reconciled on a regular basis •Collaborates with the Director of Finance to provide all required financial, accounting, and other relevant reports to the Executive Director, Division Directors, Board of Directors, and/or Finance Committee of the Board within required deadlines and reporting schedules •Consults with Division Directors on periodic financial reports as to support budget management objectives •Provides advice to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial reporting systems and controls •Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements including all terms and conditions related to all signed contribution agreements and contracts •Collaborates with the Director of Finance to ensure that annual audited financial statements are prepared accurately and on time •Provides advice to the Executive Director and Director of Finance on the annual financial audit process and provide hands-on support for audit completion •Assists in the process of responding to auditor comments and findings and oversees required actions to mitigate any deficiencies •Supports the Executive Director and Senior Management Team in the development and implementation of a strategic plan including reviewing and updating the strategic plan periodically •Communicates, guides, and provides Division Directors hands-on leadership in developing and implementing work plans, budgets, deliverables, reporting requirements, and providing recommendations to the Board of Directors •Ensures operational activities and initiatives adhere to the vision, mandates of the organization as outlined in work plans, budgets, and the objectives identified in the SERDC By-laws •Directs, supervises, monitors, and assists all personnel in completing the required deliverables identified in the work plans •Develops and operationalizes key initiatives, including assigning accountabilities, budget, preferred outcomes, and performance measures consistent with the annual strategic plans •Monitors and analyzes the success of strategic initiatives and recommends change •Provides overall leadership in developing and implementing the annual budget in consultation with the Executive Director and the Director of Finance •Ensures that all significant contracts with external service providers are satisfactory prior to finalization of new contracts and contract renewals or extensions •Ensures the development and implementation of sound internal controls and processes across all divisions and programs •Reviews and monitors the performance of existing internal control mechanisms and systems •Develops and recommends new policies and procedures •Ensures compliance with approved policies, procedures, and controls across the organization •Collaborates with the Director of Finance to develop a comprehensive asset listing to ensure effective asset controls are implemented and monitored •Ensures training is provided for finance personnel to understand and undertake their responsibilities for timely and accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of all transactions in preparation for monthly financial reports for the Executive Director •Works diligently to ensure intellectual property and sensitive business information are held in complete confidence and all intellectual property assets are safeguarded •Takes a lead role in negotiating and approving key terms in all contracts
•Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required, with a preference for those holding a Chartered Accountant (CA) designation. Additionally, a relevant graduate degree, such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA), is preferred. •Minimum of eight (8) years career experience and success in senior level management with a Canadian organization •Experienced in Sage 300 accounting software •Knowledge of First Nation and Indigenous taxation rights, laws, and practices •Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office applications •Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates •Knowledge of Indigenous culture and Southeast communities is an asset.
