• Provide legal opinions and strategic advice to different teams regarding applicable health and privacy laws and regulations • Maintain advanced knowledge of Canadian health and privacy laws • Develop legal processes and documentation to enhance privacy and health regulatory compliance • Support the communications with medical regulatory bodies, provincial and federal governments and relevant interest groups concerning health law matters • Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects, such as impact assessments related to new legislation, new service offerings, new products or entering new markets around both health and privacy matters • Advise on a wide range of commercial agreements involving complex, multi-stakeholder legal issues • Conduct legal risk assessments relating to proposed business and operational decisions and work with business leaders to mitigate risks to stakeholders around both health and privacy matters • Provide timely and practical legal advice regarding the company’s day-to-day operations
• 3-5 years’ experience in the healthcare, or privacy sectors, and familiarity with regulated environments acquired within a company or in private practice • Bachelor's degree in civil law (LL.B. or LL.L.) and is a member of the Quebec or Ontario Bar • Proficient in developing privacy programs within organizations • Strong legal acumen, fostering collaboration and adept problem-solving skills • Skilled in writing, negotiating, and managing multiple priorities and files simultaneously • Effective communicator, adept at fostering relationships with multidisciplinary teams internally and externally, including legal professionals, in corporate settings • Capable of autonomously developing programs, policies, processes, and other documentation • Bilingual in French and English, crucial for communication and collaboration with stakeholders across Quebec, Canada, and the United Kingdom via email and telephone
